WATERLOO REGION – The third annual Golf for a Cause charity tournament, hosted by United Way Waterloo Region Communities (UWWRC) and presented by Sun Life, teed up an incredible day of impact and raised nearly $85,000 to support vital local programs and services supported by United Way WRC.
Held in Cambridge, ON, at the beautiful Whistle Bear Golf Club on June 10th, the sold-out event brought together a vibrant network of community leaders, local dignitaries, and corporate partners – all united by a shared commitment to building a stronger, more equitable Waterloo Region.
“This event is proof of what’s possible when a community comes together,” said Joan Fisk, United Way Waterloo Region CEO. “From supporting youth mental health to addressing food insecurity and housing instability, every dollar raised will help make life better for people across our region.”
The day featured several exciting contests and activations, including a $15,000 hole-in-one challenge, a Happy Gilmore driving hole where players had to run while teeing off with a driver, and a speed competition for the fastest team to finish the hole.
The afternoon wrapped up with a high-energy 19th Hole Reception, proudly sponsored by TD, where guests enjoyed a farm-to-table grazing table, inspiring remarks from the Golf Cabinet, and the opportunity to connect with fellow changemakers.
Special thanks to all of our incredible sponsors, including Title Sponsor Sun Life; Gold Sponsors; Gore Mutual, Wawanesa, TMMC and Waterloo Region Sports and Entertainment, Silver Sponsors; TD, Onward Media, P&H Milling, and Enova Power Corp,. and many more hole, contest, and prize sponsors whose support made this event possible.
