Waterloo Region’s most delicious fundraiser returns this November, connecting community through food, fun, and philanthropy.
WATERLOO REGION, ON – November 3, 2025: The grills are heating up and the competition is fierce as United Way Waterloo Region proudly launches the 2nd Annual Ultimate Burger Battle, running throughout November.
Formerly known as Novemburger, the Ultimate Burger Battle invites local restaurants across Waterloo Region to showcase their creativity in crafting the most mouth-watering burger ever known! Each burger gives back to local charities, as participating restaurants donate $2.00 from every featured burger directly to United Way Waterloo Region, supporting local charities and local small businesses simultaneously. Across Canada, there are 12 United Way’s participating with 186 total restuarants.
“Every bite truly gives back,” said Joan Fisk, CEO of United Way Waterloo Region Communities. “This campaign brings people together around something we all love, good food, while raising critical funds for the programs that help our most vulnerable neighbours.”
This year’s Ultimate Burger Battle features restaurants across the region, including The Bruce, The Boathouse DTK, Gator’s Tail, Blackshop, Canadian Brewhouse, and The Imperial Restaurant — last year’s champion — all offering signature creations that combine local flavour with community spirit.
Many participating restaurants are also pouring United Wave Amber Ale, brewed in partnership with Wave Maker Brewery in Cambridge, ON, where $0.50 per can or pour also supports United Way’s community impact initiatives and network of non-profit partners.
“The Ultimate Burger Battle isn’t just about food – it’s about community pride,” said Chef D, local culinary legend and President of Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest. “It’s a reminder that small actions, can make a big difference.”
This year’s Burger Battle boasts an incredible lineup of Community Ambassadors that are tasked with evaluating and ranking the burgers based on taste, appearance, and creativity. Ambassadors represent backgrounds and professions of professional sports, music, and media — but they are all locally-based, and they are all united by one cause: making Waterloo Region a better place to live for everyone.
Other ambassadors include World Champion Boxer Syd Vanderpool, Country Music Artist Bradly Hale, Bryan Causarano-Bolton of the Merch Room in Galt, and Myranda Weiler from Corus Radio and the Kitchener Rangers broadcast team.
