Global Accessibility Awareness Day

Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) is observed on the third Thursday in May each year to spark conversation, education, and action around digital and physical accessibility. It’s a day to reflect on the barriers, both seen and unseen, that people with disabilities face daily, and the responsibility we all share to ensure our communities are inclusive and accessible for everyone.

At United Way Waterloo Region Communities, accessibility is a key part of our commitment to equity and inclusion. Many of our funded partners work directly with individuals living with disabilities, whether through employment support, housing assistance, mental health programming, or inclusive recreational activities.

By supporting our Community Impact Fund or our Community and Social Supports Fund, donors help ensure that people of all abilities can access the resources, dignity, and opportunities they deserve.

We invite you to explore the organizations we fund and the incredible work being done across our region: uwaywrc.ca/what-we-do/who-we-fund

On GAAD and every day, let’s keep pushing for progress — together.

United is the way to accessible communities!
