Support for Waterloo Region during COVID-19 Pandemic

United Way has always played a role in convening and mobilizing people around the most pressing needs in our community and the COVID-19 crisis is no exception. COVID-19 has left our community with more than one problem. United Way provides more than one solution.

We are proud to support the work of frontline agencies across Waterloo Region. See below for the list of agencies that we have been able to support so far thanks to the support of our generous donors.

Funded by COVID-19 Community Response Fund

United Way Waterloo Region Communities, Kitchener Waterloo Community Foundation, Social Venture Partners Waterloo Region, The Astley Foundation, Lyle S. Hallman Foundation, Fairmount Foundation and Cambridge & North Dumfries Community Foundation recently joined forces to maximize assistance for urgent and emerging community needs in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The funder’s collective is working together to raise and distribute funds to front line organizations that are striving to ensure our most vulnerable citizens and those that support them remain supported, safe and healthy.

This funding is being directed to charitable organizations working with vulnerable populations across Waterloo Region. It will assist organizations that expressed urgent need to continue providing front-line social services through essential programming as well as health and safety for charitable front line workers.

Funded by Emergency Community Support Fund (ECSF)

United Way Waterloo Region Communities (UWWRC) is pleased to support this vital investment by the Government of Canada in critical services for vulnerable people in our community.

COVID-19 is having a disproportionate impact on vulnerable populations in Canada.

Together, the Canadian Red Cross, Community Foundations of Canada and United Way Centraide Canada are collaborating with the Government of Canada to flow ECSF support to those who need it most right now.
